During this uncertain time, it is paramount that as a community we stick together and help each other through thick and thin.

Using the #kelownastrong on our social platforms, we are bringing you stories and initiatives that radiate positivity in our community.

Free meals for healthcare workers

Just a stone's throw from the hospital, the team at The Table at Codfathers Market is making sure that our health care workers are fed during this busy time.

They have started their own pay it forward campaign, not only will you be fed but you’ll also be feeding a healthcare worker during these busy times.

Daniel an employee who works at The Table told NowMedia that he is,  “excited about this initiative and that they had already had more than 40 orders come through yesterday.”

To take part in this initiative simply purchase an $18,1pc Fish and Chips meal and in return one meal is donated to a healthcare worker.

All the meal donations are written up on a board, a healthcare worker can stop in at any time with their ID and pick up a free meal.

If you are unable to leave your home, you can also get the Fish and Chip’s delivered to your home, Tuesday through Saturday from 4 pm until 7:30 pm.

You can do this through Skip the Dishes or through personal deliveries from Ross, the owner himself.

Ross the owner told NowMedia said, " they already had 35 meals donated to health care workers and they are expecting more to be added to the list in the next few days."

All the profits from this initiative will be donated to charity, already this year they have donated to Foundry Kelowna, The Bridge and they will continue to contribute to the community by supporting local charities and foundations.

Give and receive help through Facebook

Are you or someone you know looking for or wanting to help out in the community?

Look no further than the Kelowna Community Helpers Facebook Page piloted by two local women Danielle and Tessa.

This page is designed to be a platform that allows anyone from Kelowna to offer or ask for help in the community.

Simply, post your need and there is sure to be someone that will help or support you with anything you inquire, from a food delivery to a mail run.

There are many members donating items and services, like offering to give away free children's books for all the children staying home from school to another member of the community who put out an exchange bin on their porch so that residents in her neighbourhood can exchange items like toys and books.

If you are needing help or wish to help someone out in the community, this is your opportunity to check out the page to see what you can do during these times.

Local Dentist donates to the front line workers

Dr. Mark Provencher from Kelowna Dental Solutions had a lot of extra gloves and masks in his office, instead of having them sit in a box he decided to donate them to the front line workers in Kelowna.

It's another simple and kind gesture to help the health care workers that need these supplies the most.

Masks and gloves will allow them to conduct their work safely and keep the community safer as well.
