Okanagan gymnasts take on the Western Canadian Championships

Four athletes from Okanagan Gymnastics Centre travelled to Brandon, Manitoba to represent Team BC at Western Canadian Championships.

Jenna Mick, 15, qualified for event finals on the floor exercise following the first day of competition.

She was in second place after the first day scoring a 9.325 and improved in the event finals scoring 9.425 taking the gold medal and title of Western Canadian Floor Champion in JO 10 (16+).

The team finished with a silver medal behind Team Alberta.

Natalia Simeunovic, 10, competed in the Aspire 1 category.

This category competes only once during the weekend where the team competition, all-around and events winners are named from the one day of competition.

Simeunovic won the silver medal with Team BC and also earned the silver medal on the vault.

Vanessa Bulcock, 16, competed in the JO 9 (14+) where Team BC won the silver medal behind Team Alberta.

Bulcock finished 12th after the first day of competition and qualified to event finals for balance beam where she finished sixth on day two.

Gabriela Beselt, 14, represented Team BC on the JO 10 (12-15) where they won gold and beat second place Alberta by over two points.

Beselt’s top finish was 10th place on vault.
