Rogers Hometown Hockey is coming back to the Okanagan in 2017.
The tour will stop in Vernon on January 21st and 22nd.
The two-day celebration, hosted by Ron MacLean and Tara Slone, will feature appearances by hometown heroes and former Canucks’ goalie, Kirk McLean.
The fun kicks off at noon on Saturday, January 21st and concludes with an outdoor viewing party for a game between the Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday night.
The Sunday broadcast on Sportsnet kicks off with a special pre-game show hosted live on site at Vernon City Hall.
The weekend will feature a variety of activities, entertainment and food.
This includes a fan hub, NHL viewing room with virtual reality experiences, meet and greets with NHL alumni, a family zone, ball hockey, plenty of food trucks and much more.
There’s also a chance for local Vernon minor hockey teams to be featured on the broadcast. To earn that chance, submit a video of your team’s cheer to www.hometownhockey.com.
Hometown hockey was last in the Okanagan in March 2016, when it made a stop in Penticton. It was also in Kelowna in November 2014.
