Sportsnet 650 continues to make personnel announcements ahead of its September launch.

On Monday, the new Vancouver radio station revealed who would be calling Canucks games and it’s a pair of familiar faces for Vancouverites.

Brendan Batchelor will be the new play-by-play guy, while Corey Hirsch will take over colour commentary duties.

Batchelor, a BCIT graduate and Coquitlam native, has been calling Vancouver Giants’ games for the past four years.

Hirsch, on the other hand, is a former NHL goalie who played for the Canucks from 1995-1999 and also backstopped Team Canada to a silver medal at the 1994 Olympics.

The pair will kick off the season by calling the Young Stars Classic in Penticton, which starts on September 8th.

The change is due to the Canucks moving down the dial from TSN 1040 to Sportsnet 650 for the upcoming season.

Jon Abbott and Dave Tomlinson had been calling the team’s games on TSN 1040 for the past two years.
