The West Kelowna Warriors named their captains for the 2017-2018 season.

Jared Marino will serve as captain for the second straight year and he’ll be joined by three alternate captains.

Wearing the As this year will be Jake Harrison, Stephen Kleysen and Calvin Tilsley.

“It’s an honour for me to wear a letter this season,” said Harrison, “I can’t wait to get out and help lead this team to another championship.”

Harrison and Marino are the only two players remaining from the 2016 National Championship winning team.

Meanwhile, Kleysen is entering his second full season with the Warriors while Tilsley enters his first full season with the team after being acquired last November.

“Being named as an assistant captain is a huge honour for me,” commented Tilsley, “I have some big shoes to fill as the leaders from last season have moved on but it’s something I’m very excited for.”

Coach Rylan Ferster has no doubts that these four young men are the veterans that should be leading the Warriors this year.

“Along with Jared, we believe that these three men will be able to provide plenty of veteran leadership to our team for this season.”

The Warriors open their regular season with a home and home against the Trail Smoke Eaters, beginning on the road on Friday.

The home opener, which is also First Responders Appreciation Night, will be on Saturday with events starting outside the rink at 4 p.m. and puck drop at 7 p.m.
