The Kelowna Rockets recorded their seventh win a row with a 4-3 overtime victory against the Victoria Royals on Saturday.

The Royals had a bit more bite than they did in the last matchup with the Rockets on Tuesday, in which the Rockets took the 4-3 win in regulation.

Reid Gardiner kicked things off early in the first period with a power play goal. The elder Gardiner is riding a 15 game point streak (10G,12A) - the guy is on fire right now.

Victoria quickly responded as Regan Nagy notched an unassisted marker at 7:53 of the first frame. Early in the second, Dante Hannoun made it 2-1 Royals.

The game was getting tense and pushing and shoving ensued. Calvin Thurkauf was on his A-game amidst these scuffles and furiously dug in the corners for opportunity, to which he was rewarded when he sent a shot to the net that Dillon Dube was able to bury, tying the game up at two.

A few minutes later, captain Rodney Southam banged at a rebound off of a shot from Cal Foote and put the puck past Royals' goaltender Dylan Myskiw to take back the lead.

The battle continued in the third period, but things didn't look great for the Rockets when Calvin Thurkauf was issued a four minute penalty, which the crowd seriously disagreed with. The Royals took advantage of the power play as Hannoun added his second of the night.

Late in the third period, Loch Morrison took an unnecessary delay of game penalty that carried over into overtime. Just 19 seconds into the extra frame, exceptional passing led to Dillon Dube's game winning goal. Dube was in on all four Rockets' goals on Saturday.

The two teams combined for 13 power play opportunities. Myskiw recorded 31 saves from the Rockets' 35 shots, while Michael Herringer stopped 24 of the 27 shots he faced.

The Rockets will host the Everett Silvertips on Wednesday, March 15th at Prospera Place before a home and home regular season finale with the Vancouver Giants next weekend.
