Devante Stephens signs his first NHL contract

Another member of the Kelowna Rockets has inked an professional deal.

Defenseman Devante Stephens signed a three-year entry level contract with the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday.
 


The 20-year-old was drafted in the fifth round, 122nd overall, by the Sabres in the 2015 NHL entry draft.

Stephens has spent the last three seasons with the Rockets, picking up 19 goals and 38 assists for 57 points in 203 career games.

The native of Surrey, B.C. has also put up 166 penalty minutes and posted a +56 rating over those three seasons.

Stephens and the Rockets continue their series with the Seattle Thunderbirds on Wednesday night, with a 7:05 p.m. puck drop at Prospera Place.

Seattle currently leads the series 2-1.
