The Kelowna Rockets have signed one of their coaching staff to a multi-year extension.
Kris Mallette will remain with the team for the next two years, through the 2020-21 season.
The 40-year-old said his family was excited to be in Kelowna for another two years, especially with such a big season ahead.
"I want to thank the Hamilton family for this opportunity to continue and coach with the Rockets during the Memorial Cup season,” said Mallette.
“I'm excited to work with Adam and our staff in preparing our team, specifically our defence and penalty kill for major junior hockey's biggest stage."
Mallette is a Rockets alumni who patrolled the team’s blueline for three seasons before being drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in 1997.
He went on to have a nine-year professional career before retiring at the end of the 2008-09 season.
His coaching career then begun and he’s made his way up the ranks to rejoin his former junior team, which he did in 2014.
