Pavel Novak of the Kelowna Rockets has been handed an eight-game suspension by the Western Hockey League.

The WHL said it was for a checking-from-behind major and game misconduct during Game #204 in Kamloops on Nov. 11.

His suspension will begin on Nov. 16, when the Blazers visit Kelowna.

Novak will be eligible for a return to the ice on Dec. 10, when the Rockets face Brandon.

The Rockets said they will not comment on the suspension.
