Christmas came early for Kelowna Rockets on Friday as the team announced the signing of defenceman Gabriel Guilbault.

Guilbault was drafted 61st overall by the Rockets in 2022 and joins the team after spending time with the Penticton Vees and Langley Rivermen of the BCHL.

"We are excited to have Gabriel join our team after Christmas," said Rockets President/GM Bruce Hamilton.

"We feel he will bring depth to our existing group of defencemen at this time."

The 18-year-old has one goal and 10 assists in 27 games this season. In 103 career BCHL games, the defenceman has 36 points.

“I am really excited for the opportunity to join a franchise with so much history such as the Rockets," Guilbault said.

"I can't wait to put that uniform on and contribute to the team's success."

Guilbault is committed to playing at Quinnipiac University in the 2026-27 season.

The Rockets will be back in action on Dec. 28 when they host the Kamloops Blazers. The team will then travel to Vancouver and face the Giants the following day.
