The Kelowna Rockets have to be hoping that a four-game road trip to Victoria and Prince George is the TSN turning point of their season.

One day after firing head coach Adam Foote and promoting long-time assistant Kris Mallette to that role, the team has boarded the bus and is headed to Vancouver Island.

They’ll take on the Victoria Royals on Friday and Saturday before returning to the mainland and heading north to take on the Prince George Cougars during the week.

Sean Comrie, Michael Farren, Liam Kindree and Nolan Foote didn’t make the trip with the Rockets, while defenceman Tyson Feist is with the team but listed as day-to-day.

GM Bruce Hamilton said Foote left for New Jersey on Wednesday to see his new NHL team’s medical staff and hopefully be cleared to return to the lineup as soon as possible.

“He'll go down there and go through a battery of tests, I'm sure with their medical team,” said Hamilton.

“Which doesn't surprise me at all when you make a trade for the quality of player he is that I would want to bring him in and have our doctors see him too."

The Royals are also dealing with their fair share of injuries, as Ty Yoder, Shane Farkas and Jacob Herauf are all out long-term, while Brayden Tracey, Sean Gulka and Tarun Fizer are listed as day-to-day.
