The CHL Import Draft is next week and the Kelowna Rockets clearly have their eye on someone.

Kelowna picks 24th and they made a roster move today to clear up one of their two import spots.

The team announced that they’ve released forward Jonas Peterek from the roster.

The 19-year-old was acquired at the WHL trade deadline this past season from the Calgary Hitmen.

He piled up five goals and 10 assists in just 23 games for the Rockets before the season was cut short due to COVID-19.

With Pavel Novak now the team’s only import player, the Rockets will almost certainly select someone 24th overall during the CHL Import Draft, which starts at 8 am on Tuesday, June 30.
