Kyle Topping and Leif Mattson are going to Nashville.

No, the Kelowna Rockets forwards aren’t going for a country concert, but rather a 2019 NHL Prospects Showcase that will feature four teams.

Topping and Mattson will suit it up for the Carolina Hurricanes in the tournament that runs from Sept. 7-10.

"Anytime that you get the chance to go to a tournament like that it's an honour,” said Topping, who had 23 goals and 46 assists in 68 WHL games last season.

“It's going to be fun going with Leif, it will be a good experience for both of us.”

Mattson, who had 22 goals and 41 assists of his own in 63 games last season, says it’ll be an experience he cherishes.

"I just need to go in and show them what I can do,” he said. “It's pretty cool having both Kyle and I go together."

Carolina’s prospects play their first game on Sept. 7, but the Rockets duo likely have Sept. 8 circled on the calendar.

That’s when the Hurricanes take on the Tampa Bay Lightning, a roster which features their Kelowna teammate Nolan Foote.
