Tyson Feist signs contract with AHL team

Former Kelowna Rockets captain Tyson Feist has signed a one-year contract with the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL, the team announced on Friday afternoon. 

The 21-year old previously signed an amateur tryout with the club once the Rockets season ended on May 8. He joined the Crunch for the remainder of their season, although did not dress in any games. 

The defenceman set career bests for points in his final WHL season, with 15 goals, 24 assists for 39 points in 65 games. 

The Dawson Creek native spent the past four WHL seasons with the Rockets, Spokane Chiefs and Regina Pats. 

He played in a total of 187 games, accumulating 19 goals, 53 assists for 72 points. 

Feist was announced as the 26th captain in Rockets history at the beginning of the 2021-22 season. He was traded from the Regina Pats in a January 2020 trade. 

The Syracuse Crunch are the affiliate team for the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning. The Crunch lost in the North Division semifinals to the Laval Rocket this postseason.
