Big White was busy over the weekend as the province converged on the ski hill for the U14 Provincial Ski Championships.

Big White Ski Club hosted the event, which featured both giant slalom and slalom races over three days.

In total, 17 ski clubs, 36 coaches, 40 out of town volunteers and 120 local volunteers made the weekend happen.

Conditions weren’t great over the weekend, but the racers persevered through rain and fog to post some impressive times.

Local racer, Anna Dewynter, came 13th in the ladies giant slalom event on Saturday.

On Sunday, another Big White racer, Adam Fricska, notched a 10th place finish in the men’s giant slalom.

The overall winners for the men were Hemming Sola from Apex in first, Adam Usher from Whistler in second and Cameron Seward from Grouse Mountain rounding out the podium in third.

On the ladies side, Bryn Applegath from Sun Peaks took home the gold, Sara Stiel from Whistler came in second and Jaden Dawson from Whistler was third.

Local ski legend, Kelsey Serwa, was on hand to hand out medals at the awards ceremony.
