Kelowna has been announced as one of the WHL host cities for 2015 Subway Super Series.

The series is November 9-19 between CHL all-star teams and Team Russia. It'll open in Kelowna on November 9th and continue in Kamloops on November 10th. The Ontario Hockey League and then the Quebec Major Junior League will then host the final four games.

“I think this is a great opportunity for our season tickets holders,” said Rockets President/GM Bruce Hamilton. “The last few years the series has been very good as the Russians have been sending a very good team. I think we will have a couple of players in Nick Merkley and Rourke Chartier as candidates for the team and that will be a great opportunity for them and exciting for our fans as well.”

In 2009, Rockets forward Brandon McMillan scored the game-winning goal to get player of the game honours for Team WHL. This 4-2 victory clinched the CHL's last six-game series sweep.

Overall, CHL teams have an overall record of 49-17-6 against Russia in the series, while four of the last five series have been decided in the final game.

The Subway Super Series has been an important part of the identification process for Team Canada before the IIHG World Junior Hockey Championship.
