Katy Klomps is now the first student athlete at UBC's Okanagan campus to win a CIS All-Canadian award.
The award was announced in Toronto, honouring Klomps as one of the top 14 players in women's volleyball during the 2014/15 season of Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS). This is UBCO's first All-Canadian award for UBCO, but the school has won two other CIS awards in 2012/13 women's volleyball, with Emily Oxland making the All-Rookie team and Steve Manuel honoured as Coach of the Year.
Klomps, a nursing student and fourth year middle blocker from Surrey, BC, started in all four years with the Heat. She's not new to athlete awards, winning two Canada West All-Stars (2013/14, 2014/15) and making Canada West Athlete/Star of the Week twice. In 2014, she was the UBCO Student Athlete of the Year, and when she was in her first year, she was named Heat women''s volleyball Rookie of the Year.

Klomps also has many records, making second all-time in regular season with Canada West with 407 total blocks and 1.35 blocks per set. She also holds the record for total blocks in a single match, with a total of 15 on November 2, 2013 against Mount Royal. Not only that, but Klomps is tied for the record of most blocks in a single playoff game with 11 against Mount Royal on February 15, 2013.
Heat coach Steve Manuel says that Klomps puts in the work to play so incredibly well while being enrolled in the challenging nursing program.
