Rockets Roll Over Americans With 6-0 Win

The Kelowna Rockets rolled over the Tri-City Americans in convincing fashion, scoring six goals and allowing none.

Rourke Chartier started the Rockets off, scoring the first goal of the playoffs for the Rockets,  That goal turned out to be the game winner. 


Nick Merkley teamed up with Chartier and Madison Bowey to score a short handed goal to extend the lead to 2-0.

Dillon Dube and Leon Draisaitl added singles in the second to finish the second period up 4-0.

Chartier and Merkley worked their magic in the third to increase the lead to 5-0.  Chartier's second goal was a short handed marker.

Bowey finished off the rout with his first of the playoffs making the final 6-0. 

Jackson Whistle earned the shut-out victory in net for the Rockets who outshot Tri-City 30-18. Whistle made several key saves early in the game.

The win gave the Rockets a 1-0 series lead with the Rockets and Americans playing game two in the series on Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna.

Games three and four will be Tuesday and Wednesday in Tri-City and a possible game five would be back in 

Kelowna Friday, April 3, if necessary.
