The season is starting up for the Sr. Men’s Lacrosse teams, with the Kelowna Raiders taking down the Kamloops Rattlers 18-8.

Winning the first game of the season has traditionally been a chore for the Raiders, but not on Friday. The Raiders were down 3-0 halfway through the first before taking a charge and winning 18-8. Veteran Pho Heng had four goals and two assists for Kelowna, while Vic Wein, Joe Brown, and captain Jacob Illichmann all had hat tricks. Matt Gorges and Nicke Evans each had two goals, and Chris Phillips contributed a single.

Kelowna’s defense was also in top shape on Friday, with Matt Gorges and Cody Ridden controlling the loose balls and blocking the fast Kamloops forwards all night.

Kamloops captain Mark Jurista led his team in scoring with three goals, while JJ Woldum had a pair of goals. Travis Joseph, Nathan Woldum, and Kyle Walker each scored a goal for Kamloops.

Kelowna will be hosting the Armstrong Shamrocks next Friday, May 1st at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Arena.
