The West Kelowna Warriors’ Kylar Hope will play at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks beginning this fall.

In his third season in the B.C. Hockey League, the 20-year-old Lashburn, Sask. native has committed to the NCAA Nanooks for the 2016-17 season.

"They (Alaska-Fairbanks) showed a lot of interest in me in the past month or so and I felt it would be the best fit for me as a player and as a person,” said Hope, enjoying his best season with 21 goals and 32 assists in 42 games thus far. “I’m very excited for the opportunity Fairbanks has given me to play college hockey."

Head coach and general manager Rylan Ferster is also elated for Hope.

"Kylar has been one of our best players since the playoffs last season. He's been playing in all situations this year, and he’s seen his numbers reflect his play. It's really nice to see a guy put in three hard seasons in our league and get rewarded for it.”

Hope will join former Warrior Marcus Basara on the Nanooks next season. There are seven BCHL alumni on the roster, with six slated to return in 2016/2017. Also on the Alaska-Fairbanks team are Vernon minor hockey graduates, Jordan Burns, and Colton Sparrow.
