The Kelowna/Vernon rink of Jim Cotter, Ryan Kuhn, Tyrel Griffith and Rick Sawatsky were doubled up 8-4 by the Team Canada foursome of Pat Simmon, John Morris, Carter Rycroft and Nolan Thiessen at the Tim Hortons Brier today in Ottawa.

A second straight loss on the day dropped the B.C. rink to ninth place among the 12 teams with a 2-4 record.

Up by two after the first end, the Cotter foursome gave up five in the fourth and never did recover, while Simmons (4-2) closed out with a deuce in the ninth.

Cotter’s front end bettered the Simmons counterparts, as Sawatsky posted a 93% shooting percentage compared to Thiessen’s 89%. Griffith was at 94% overall, while Rycroft finished at 85%.

Up next for the B.C. rink is a match against Kevin Koe (4-2) of Alberta, beginning at 6:30 a.m. PST on Wednesday.
