TORL Ringette Force continue national playoff run with three victories

The TORL Force earned the right to play another day at the Canadian under-16 ringette championship tournament in London, Ont.

Competing as Team BC in the single-knockout consolation playoffs on Thursday, the Thompson-Okanagan Ringette League Force doubled the Alberta Pak 6-3.

Alyssa Racine scored twice and assisted on two goals to lead the Force, while Emma Carter helped set up three goals. Evan Koshure  scored once and assisted on a pair of tallies, while Emily Williams, Kayt Meraw and Delainey Gregory added a goal apiece.

Georgia Gregory was the winning goaltender, getting solid support from defenders Brooklyn Keller, Madi Fox, Hailey McRae and Koshure.

Earlier on Thursday, the Force dropped a 7-6 overtime decision to Gloucester-Cumberland of Ontario in their final consolation round-robin game after a pair of victories on Wednesday.

Racine and Emily Elsom both scored twice for the Force, who had battled back from a 6-4 deficit despite losing two players due to injury. Meraw notched the fifth Force goal, while Racine sent the game into OT on a goal with just over six minutes to go.

On Wednesday, the Force Elsom scored a goal and assisted on three others in a 6-5 come-from-behind overtime win over Saskatchewan in the first game of consolation round-robin. Meraw chipped in with a goal and an assist, while Abby Williamson and Racine contributed a goal each.

Williams provided the heroics in Wednesday afternoon round-robin encounter by edging Central Alberta Sting 6-5 in OT. She not only scored the tying and winning goals, but also completed a hat trick in the process.

Fox, Elsom and Meraw also scored for the Force, who had to come  back from 4-2 and 5-4 deficits to send the game into extra time.

Up next for the B.C.-champion Force is another consolation playoff game on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. PDT.
