The Kelowna Crows opened the scoring and never relinquished the lead as they defended their B.C. Rugby Union  Division 3A championship with a 40-22 victory over the host Westshore RFC on the weekend in Victoria.

Centre Ricky Schouten got the Crows on the scoreboard early, while Jeff Lohse, selected as the BC Rugby News player of the match, added three tries. Jedd Anderson and team captain, Rhys Evans, contributed a try each, while Barak Pauls was good on five of six conversions in the rematch of last year’s title game.

The Crows earned the right to defend their provincial title by defeating the Simon Fraser University Highlanders 45-3 in semifinal play a week earlier.

A dominant force leading up to the playoffs, the Crows won all eight regular-season games, averaging 58 points per game and allowing just five points per game.
