Giving up three goals in the third period and two more in double overtime, the Kelowna Midget B Kodiaks fell 7-6 to Prince George and settled for silver at their own Andy Woods Memorial Lacrosse tournament on the weekend.

The Kodiaks led 3-1 after the first period and 4-2 going into the third, but couldn’t hold off the northern visitors in the third and were forced into the OT. Prince George scored the tying goal with 1:12 left in regulation and the winning tally with three minutes remaining in the second period of extra frame.
Colton Wasylenko scored three times to lead the Kodiaks’ offence that received single markers from Peyton Avigdor, Zeb Pink and Taryn Munson.
Overall, the Kodiaks finished with a 2-2 record. They opened with a 14-2 victory over Kamloops, and after dropping an 8-7 decision to Langley, bounced back for a 15-1 win over Ridge Meadows to earn a berth in the final on the strength of their goals-for-and-against record.
The Kodiaks opened the 14-team Kelowna Minor Lacrosse Association tournament against Kamloops, breaking open a 2-1 first-period lead by outscoring the Rattlers 7-1 in the middle frame.
Four-goal performances by Justin Charlton and Adam Mitchell set the pace for the winners.
Up 4-0 in the first period against Langley, the Kodiaks gave up five goals in the third period, the winner coming with 2:29 left in regulation time. Wasylenko scored three times in a losing cause.
The host team got off to another quick start again against Ridge Meadows, scoring five unanswered goals in the opening period, but this time they held on for the easy win.
Nolan Katinic completed a natural hat trick in the second period and added two assists to spearhead the Kodiaks’ attack. Charlton also scored three times while Zander Torres and Landon Keating contributed two goals apiece.
