The Kelowna Raiders came close, but couldn’t overcome a five-goal first-period deficit and fell 15-13 to the host Kamloops Rattlers in Thompson Okanagan Senior Lacrosse League playoff action on Tuesday.

The Rattlers’ win tied the TOSLL best-of-three series and forced a deciding game on Thursday (8 p.m.) at the Kelowna Memorial Arena. The winner will meet the first-place Armstrong Shamrocks in the best-of-three championship series.

Trailing 7-2 after the first period, the Raiders gained momentum as the game wore on, narrowing the gap to one goal with two minutes remaining.

Pho Heng scored three times in a losing cause while Jacob Illichmann and Jared MacLennan added a pair of goals each. Vic Wiens, Taylor Trotter, Evan Helgesen, Nick Evans, Matt Gorges and Graham Cousins rounded out the scoring for the Raiders, who won the first game of the series 12-5 over a shorthanded Kamloops squad in Kelowna on Sunday.

The Rattlers received a six-goal effort from AJ Lockwood, with Gavin McIntosh adding four goals to go along with two by Russ McIntosh and singles from JJ Woldum and Nate Woldum.
