Kapchinsky runaway winner at KGCC's 33rd annual Ladies Open

Madison Kapchinsky shot a final-round 5-under 67 to win the 33rd annual Ladies Open at the Kelowna Golf and Country Club on Sunday.

The Kelowna Springs/Harvest Golf Club representative, who carded a 73 on Saturday, finished with a 140 total, seven strokes ahead of runner-up Kylie Jack of Two Eagles Golf Course of West Kelowna.

Kimberly Szulc, also of Two Eagles, finished in third place at 148 while former champion, Haley Cameron of the host KGCC, placed fourth at 149. Fifth place went to Winnie Hyun of Meadows Gardens in Pitt Meadows, who finished with a 36-hole total of 153.

The low net winner among the 85 golfers was Sue Cmolik of the Vernon Golf and Country Club. Kapchinsky was second at 136, with Lyse Delaurentiis of the Okanagan Golf Club taking third place with a 137 net total. Gwen Helfrich placed fourth at 139 while Gloria Morgan of Spallumcheen and Szulc tied for fifth at 140.

Among the other highlights on the weekend was a hole-in-one recorded by past champion Marli Mikulecky of the KGCC on Saturday.
