The pinnacle of Canadian women’s curling is here as the 2024 Scotties Tournament of Hearts kicks off in Calgary on Friday.
This year’s tournament is full of interesting storylines but headlined by Team Einarson's attempt to win a record fifth straight title.
The rink is based out of Gimli Curling Club in Manitoba and consists of Kerri Einarson, Val Sweeting, Shannon Birchard, Briane Harris, Krysten Karwacki (alternate) and Reid Carruthers (coach).
The last time Team Einarson did not win the event was in 2019 when Team Carey represented Alberta and won the event.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Jones will attempt to win a record seventh title in what will be her last Scotties appearance.
The soon-to-be 18-time event attendee (second all-time) currently has six titles to her name, a feat she shares with Jill Officer and Colleen Jones for most all-time.
Earlier this week, Jones announced this would be her last season of four-person curling.

The curling legend has an Olympic title from 2014 and a pair of world championships, plus numerous records and other accolades.
Jones announced that she will continue to curl competitively in mixed doubles with her husband.
Representing BC at the Scotties will be Team Grandy of Vancouver and Team Brown of Kamloops.
Skip Clancy Grandy and her rink defeated Team Brown at the provincial championships at the end of January with an 11-3 win.
Team Brown managed to snag a wildcard spot by being one of the two highest-ranked teams in the country to not win their provincial tournament.
This year’s Scotties winners will receive $100,000 and the right to represent Canada at the 2024 BKT World Women’s Curling Championship in Nova Scotia.
The winners will also get a berth to the 2025 Canadian Curling Trials as long as they secure a top-six finish at the world championship.
