The Kelowna Aqua Jets swim team attended two separate swim meets in the past month, leaving competitors in their wake in a one-day swim meet in Salmon Arm and at the TRU Wolfpack Long Course Swim meet in Kamloops.
In late May, Aqua Jets travelled to Salmon Arm to retrieve some hardware from the Shuswap. Noella Quadri captained the podium decorated in five gold medals, two silver medals and a bronze medal.
Also collecting some new embellishments were Matilde Arrigoni (one gold medal, three silver medals and a bronze medal); Jackson Bartlet (two bronze medals); Dylan Cawley (one silver medal and three bronze medals); Skyla Fuller (one silver medal); Enrica Guidi (one gold medal); Emma Hawkins (three bronze medals) and Rhys Howell (four gold medals and two silver medals).
Among those taking home new decorations were Victoria Koehle (two silver medals and a bronze medal); Sawyer Nabozniak (five gold medals and a silver medal); Juliet Nicholson (one silver medal); Isla O’Connor (four gold medals and two silver medals) and Jillian Rabinovitch (two gold medals, one silver medal and two bronze medals).
Adding to the lengthy list of medal-winners are Kaleigh Reese (two bronze medals); Emelia Schwarz (one gold medal, three silver medals and a bronze medal); Isaac Tomm (one silver medal); Sam Vandenberg (one bronze medal); Jadeyn Wiebe (one silver medal) and Dakota Wiman (two gold medals, three silver medals and a bronze medal).
From June 1 to 3, swim teams congregated to Kamloops for their TRU Wolfpack Long Course Swim meet.
Pierson Piche took home six medals, tallying 1 gold among a bouquet of five silver medals. Marc Toyata finished the 50-metre free eliminator with an impressive time of 25.09 collecting a pair of gold medals and a pair of silver medals.
Aiden Kirk also performed well, placing his name on the Kelowna Aqua Jets’ record board in five different events: 400-metre, 50-metre freestyle, 100-metre freestyle, 100-metre backstroke and 200-metre freestyle.
Andrea Kraetzer picked up an impressive array of medals, heading back to Kelowna with a pair of gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze - also placing her name on the Aqua Jets’ record board.
Other Aqua Jets who performed well were: Kodi Wiman (two gold medals), Sara Grey (two bronze medals), Abigail Jerome (three golds, a silver and a bronze), Jasper Stone (gold medals and a silver medal), Athina Merckx (one bronze medal), Jacklyn Pengilly (one gold medal) and Paul Neupert (one silver medal).
The Aqua Jets will be back in the water for the boys 13 and under and girls 12 and under Tier 1 Provincial Championships in Kelowna’s H2O Aquatic Centre from June 22 to 24.
