More than 50,000 fans packed the stands of BC Place as the Lions broke an attendance record and got the win against the Calgary Stampeders last night.

The Lions' home opener began with a performance by 50 Cent to get the crowd of nearly 54,000 fans onto their feet.

BC fell behind in the opening frame of the match but jumped back into the game in the second quarter with a pair of majors.

Heading into the fourth quarter the game was tied at 17 apiece.

BC created some separation with a field goal before another touchdown from Vernon Adams Jr. helped seal the win.

The Lions managed to keep Calgary’s run game in check, only giving up 61 yards on the ground.

BC was also solid in the trenches, keeping the Stampeders away from their quarterback and not allowing a single sack.

The Lions are on the road this week as they face the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday in Manitoba.
