Most Americans may not know that the Canadian Football League exists, but hopefully they take notice now.

After violence in the U.S. over the weekend, the league picked an interesting way to respond.

A number of people, including B.C. Lions coach Wally Buono, were seen wearing “Diversity is Strength” shirts during Sunday’s game between the Lions and Saskatchewan Roughriders.

They featured that simple, but important slogan on the front and on the back you could find the names of dozens of current and former CFL players from different religions and ethnic backgrounds.

The shirts were originally made for a fall launch as part of the Canada 150 celebrations, but were released early after what happened in Virginia over the weekend.

“After witnessing what transpired in Virginia, the league, along with both the Riders and Lions as well as the CFLAA decided to expedite their release and wear them (Sunday),” said a statement from the CFL. “Not that this league and this country are perfect, but that we stand against hate and bigotry and we stand for diversity and inclusion.”

The CFL has said that the shirts will go up for sale at some point on Tuesday and there’s no doubt that they’ll be a popular purchase.

Check the CFL’s website and Twitter for updates on when the shirts may be made available to buy.
