After a scoreless opening frame, Max Sasson brought the puck through the neutral zone and buried his rebound to break the scoreless draw early in the second period.

The game remained 1-0 until a few minutes into the third period when Christian Felton skated in front of Edmonton’s crease and tried a backhand shot that was stopped by Nathan Day.

Felton got a stick on the rebound and flicked the puck into the net to give Vancouver a 2-0 lead, the final score.

Nikita Tolopilo made 21 saves in the shutout and the Canucks are back in action on Sunday against Winnipeg.

Saturday's schedule will feature the Edmonton Oilers against the Calgary Flames.
