The New York Yankees made a major trade on Monday acquiring former Kelowna Falcon’s pitcher James Paxton.
Paxton was traded from the Seattle Mariners to the Yankees for three players, including top pitching prospect Justus Sheffield.
Born in Ladner, B.C., the 30-year-old made headlines last season after throwing a no-hitter on his native Canadian soil against the Toronto Blue Jays.

However, Paxton had gained plenty of media attention before even throwing his no-hitter when he took on a bald eagle without even flinching during the pre-game National anthem.

The six foot four left-hander struck out a career-high 208 batters last season on his way to compiling an 11-6 record and 3.76 ERA.
He was drafted by the Blue Jays in 2009, two years after playing for the Kelowna Falcons.
