After a grueling seven game round robin, the Kelowna Secondary School girls team and Ballenas Secondary School (Parksville) were tied with 6 and 1 records which required a tiebreaker game.

KSS Jumped out to a 6 – 1 lead with 3 enders in the first and third ends. Ballenas was not going down without a fight as they scored two in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the sixth to trail KSS 6 – 5 after six ends.

Ballenas was set up to steal again in the seventh end, lying two in the four foot, when Katelyn McGillivray made a perfect draw for a bite of the button to give KSS a two point lead going into the last end.

McGillivray then sealed the win with a double takeout to end the game.

The game was well curled by both teams.

Members of the McGillivray team were Erika Ellis, 3rd; Megan Sergerie, 2nd; Vivian Schmeeckle, lead and Katie Doll, alternate.

The girl's championship was the first for KSS girls in over thirty years.
