A local golfer has just climbed to the number one spot in the Official Golf Canada Ranking.

Cole Wilson, a 17-year-old Kelowna native, has been golfing since 2016.

Though a short career, his skills are nothing short of impressive.

Wilson was recently crowned champion of the annual CN Future Link Acura Pacific Championship hosted by Golf Canada.

This tournament was a way for 86 golfers to develop in an effort to provide a starting ground for avid tournament golf athletes.

Many of the athletes plan on attracting a golf scholarship both in Canada and the United States.

Wilson has already gained the attention of many onlookers including Missouri University of Science and Technology.

Wilson was able to finish the championships with a three-day score of 210, three-under par.

Due to the win, Wilson will be eligible to compete at the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club's National Junior Boy's championship from July 30 to August 2.

Congratulations on the win, Cole!
