It was a weekend to remember for the Kelowna Speed Skating Club as many of their products were competing at the ISU Neo-Senior World Cup Long Track Speed Skating competition in Tamaszow, Poland.
The skaters really came together during the competition as they won a total of 17 medals.
The 22-year-old Abigail McCluskey led the charge for Kelowna as she won six of the Canadian team's 17 medals. She brought home gold medals in the 3000 metre and team sprint, silver in the 1500 metre, and bronze medals in the 1000 metre and Mass Start Event.
McCluskey will be back in action this weekend with her teammate Jacob Rubuliak at the Can-Am International Competition in Calgary where she will compete with the Canadian National team.
Kelowna skaters added to the success by smashing close to 30 personal records. Addison Hank, Lachlan Ockelton, Joseph Coulliard, McKenzie Adams, Findlay Ockelton, Calla Haaheim, Xander Haaheim, Talia Halperin, and Lillian Buzato each achieved multiple personal bests.
The local skaters will be back in action competing at the Kelowna Cup in the Capital News Centre on December 15th. The competition runs from 12 to 4:30 p.m. and is free to the public.
