An Okanagan teacher will be awarded a very prestigious honour tonight in Vancouver for this contribution to the local field hockey scene.

BC Field Hockey will recognize Ben Fecht of Kelowna as the 2018 Coach of the Year.

Since 1998, coach Fecht has been an instrumental cog in the development of junior and senior girls field hockey in the Okanagan.

For the past 30 years, Fecht has coached middle school, high school, indoor, club, drop-in, and regional development teams. Under Fecht's leadership, the Okanagan, Interior, and Kootenays have grown to be thriving spots for girls to learn to play field hockey.

When asked about their coach, Fecht's former players described him as the "best they have ever had."
