Medal haul for Kelowna Speed Skating Club

The Kelowna Speed Skating Club was well represented at the CanWest Short Track Speed Skating Championships recently held in Abbotsford with four skaters competing.

Noah Rubuliak earned 2nd over-all classification in the 12-year-old boy's division.

Rubuliak started out strong with a silver medal in the 1500m and skated to an eight second personal best time followed by a 2nd place in the 200m.

On the second day of the championships, Rubuliak gained another silver in the 2000m Points Race, a 5th place in the 400m and a bronze with TeamB.C. 3000m relay.

Erik Haaheim competed in the 13-year-old division. He was able to earn 3rd place over-all with two bronze medals in the 1500m and 3000 m Points Race.

Haaheim also placed 4th in the 400m and 5th in the 200m with new personal best times!

He also secured silver in the TeamB.C. relay.

Caitlyn Collingwood competed in the 12-year-old girl's division. She was able to place 10th overall with new personal best times in the 200m and the 400m.

Mackenzie Adams raced in the 13-year-old division and placed 15th overall with a personal best time in the 200m.

TeamB.C. won the overall title for most points earned against the six Western Provinces and Territories.
