Three multiple winners led the Kelowna Owls to the Central Okanagan zone senior girls and boys track and field team titles on Tuesday at the Apple Bowl.

Kailey Fejer won both the senior high jump (1.41 metres) and the triple jump (10.35 metres) while placing second in the long jump (4.86) to earn 28 points for the Owls who won the senior girls team competition with 131 points.
Kelowna Secondary School teammate, Bryn Walsh, contributed 20 points with wins in the senior girls 100- and 200-metre dashes. She was timed at 12.60 in the 100 and in 26.07 in the 200.
In the senior boys team point race, Joel Aitken led the Owls with first-place finishes in 110-metre hurdles (17.49 seconds) and the triple jump (12.90 metres) while placing second in the 400-metre hurdles with a clocking of 1:02.96.
The KSS girls led the field of eight teams, finishing first with an 85-point cushion over the George Elliot Coyotes of Lake Country, led by middle-distance runner, Taryn O’Neill.
A double silver-medal winner at the B.C. high school championships in 2017, O’Neill lapped the field on the way to an easy victory in the 3,000 metres on Tuesday with a time of 9:51.71 while also winning the 1,500 metres in 4:45.28.
Meanwhile, the KSS senior boys edged the Okanagan Mission Huskies by 13 points in the team competition. Jacob Harris set the pace for OKM with a pair of wins, crossing first in the 1,500-metre (4:27.18) and 3,000-metre (9:49:56) runs.
The Owls also won the junior boys team title, led by double winners Nolan Ulm and Isaac Athans. Ulm finished first in both the junior 200- (23.66) and 400-metre (54.06) races and added a second place in the 100-mete event (11.61). Athans finished first in the long jump (5.47) and the triple jump (12.10).
The junior girls team championship went to the Dr. Knox Middle School Falcons, who edged KSS by three points.
Emma Cannan contributed 30 points to the Falcons’ total, winning all three of the events she entered. The Knox speedster ran to first in the 100 metres (12.78), 200 metres (26.21) and the 400 metres (1:00.98).
She was one of seven Central Okanagan athletes to claim three first-place finishes in the meet that attracted 400 athletes from throughout the Central Okanagan and the South Okanagan.
Phoebe Price-Roberts of the Aberdeen Hall Gryphons swept her three senior girls throw events, winning the discus with a toss to 28.12 metres, the hammer (50.13) and the shot put (10.50).
A pair of KLO Cougars led their team to first place in the Grade 7 team competition by contributing 30 points apiece with triple wins.
Tyson Carr ran to first place in both the 400 metres (57.93) and the 800 (2:18.70) while taking top spot in the discus (31.32). KLO teammate, Lynden Infanti won the Grade 7 boys high jump (1.50) and long jump (4.83) while also finishing first in the 100 metres (12.92).
Two OKM girls earned the bulk of their team points in the senior and junior divisions, each winning three events.
Muriel Stroda displayed her versatility by finishing first the senior 100-metre hurdles (15.95), the long jump (5.02) and the javelin (31.44) while fellow Husky, Kali Halverson, won the junior shot put (10.22), discus (21.81) and hammer throw (28.28).
In the Grade 7 girls team event, Isabella Dreger put up 30 points for the Aberdeen Gryphons (112 points), who finished second to KLO (132). She raced to first place in the 100 metres (13.02), the 80-metre hurdles (13.15) and the long jump (4.27).
Other double winners on Tuesday were Kodi Wiman (Aberdeen), Ashtyn Clarke and Elanya Glen (Const. Neil Bruce), Brayden Skogstad (Dr. Knox), Ellie Donahue and Michael Jowsey (KLO), George Griffin (Immaculata), Michael Schriemer (KCS), Aleks Kobryn (Mt. Boucherie), Jaxon Slaney (Rutland), Grace Mallette (Springvalley) and Nolan Humphries, Nathan Loo and Tatum Wade (OKM).
The top three finishers in the Grade 8, junior and senior categories advance to the Okanagan Valley championships being held in Kamloops on Tuesday.
The top four in each event at the Valley meet qualify for the B.C. championships in Langley May 31-June 2.
