For the second day in a row, both Canadian teams lost their playoff matches as the Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs played on Wednesday.

The Maple Leafs were at home and looking to take a series lead against the Boston Bruins.

Toronto opened the scoring in the second period, but the Bruins quickly answered back and the third period was all Boston.

Boston scored three goals in the final frame as they took a 2-1 series lead on a 4-2 win.

At the other end of the country, Edmonton hosted the Kings for game two of their series.

The Kings went into the second period with a 2-1 lead before the Oilers tied the game heading into the third period.

After an early goal by the Kings in the final frame, Dylan Holloway tied the match as overtime was needed to decide a winner.

A little more than two minutes into the extra frame, Anze Kopitar scored the game-winner to even the series at a game piece.

The other match to take place on Wednesday saw the Vegas Golden Knights take a 2-0 series lead against the Dallas Stars.

There are two games on tap for Thursday as the Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes look to take commanding 3-0 series leads.
