On Thursday evening, local basketball fans and athletes met at the Okanagan College to raise funds for the Coyotes Basketball program.

In December of 2016, it was announced that a varsity basketball program would return the college, a program that the student body, athletes and community, agree was much needed.

After a busy exhibition season, the coaches, athletes and members of the Kelowna College Basketball Society, have been hard at work gearing up for what will hopefully be the teams first official season.

The event acts as one the main fundraising endeavors for the team as the program is 100% community funded.

Attendees had the opportunity to mix and mingle while participating in a silent auction and indulging in delicious bites, courtesy of the Okanagan College Culinary program.

Mayor Basran addressed attendees, along with professional hockey player, Josh Gorges.

Coaches and members of the society will be head to Vancouver on May 14, 2018, to find out if the team will officially be joining The Pacific Western Athletic Association
