19-year-old Freestyle Mogul Skier, Mackenzie Schwinghamer, has had quite the showing at the Canada Winter Games so far.
The West Kelowna native captured her second medal of the weekend, hitting the top of the podium in women’s moguls with a score of 80.79.

The gold will pair nicely with Schwinghamer’s silver from Saturday’s aerials competition, an event she doesn’t normally participate in, where she scored an impressive 52.60.
According to Schwinghamer’s mother, Laura Schwinghamer, she has been on the Alberta provincial team for the last four years, but grew up skiing and training at Apex Mountain Resort.
“She has been skiing since she was two, and started competing when she was 10,” said Schwinghamer.
Revelling in her daughters win, Schwinghamer says the competition has so far been “fabulous” for Mackenzie.
“It is pretty exciting, she is out there with her dad right now who actually helped build the mogul course,” added Schwinghamer.
With the addition of Schwinhamer’s win, Alberta is now up to five gold medals while British Columbia sits at four.
