The Kelowna Rockets were in action tonight, this time taking on the Kootenay Ice in a rare Tuesday road game.

The Rockets started out hot and never looked back, handing the Ice a 3-1 loss.

In the first the Rockets dominated, outshooting the Ice 17-7. Five minutes into the game Leif Mattson got his 13th of the year, six minutes later Kyle Topping would add another to give Kelowna a 2-0 lead going into intermission.

Kootenay came to play in the second period as the club mustered 14 shots on goalie James Porter. The Ice would add one, but it was answered only a minute later thanks to Mattson's second of the night.

With a 3-1 lead in the third, Kelowna coasted on the back of Porter who stopped all nine shots he faced in the final frame.

The Rockets had an excellent night on special teams as all three of their goals were on the man advantage, and they held the Ice scoreless on the power-play. James Porter stopped 29 of 30 shots in the win.

Kelowna is right back at it tomorrow as the team travels to Lethbridge to take on the Hurricanes, puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. MST.
