The Okanagan College (OC) Coyotes are now an official member of the Pacific Western Athletic Association, otherwise known as the PACWEST.

The Coyotes are the 10th team to join the conference and the first new member since Quest University joined for the 2008-09 season.

Other teams in the PACWEST include the UBC Okanagan Heat, Langara Falcons, University of Fraser Valley Cascades and Vancouver Island University Mariners.

“We are excited to be bringing a new member on board with the PACWEST,” says Jake McCallum, PACWEST president.

“There is a strong basketball presence in Kelowna and we are looking forward to Okanagan College adding to the competitive nature of our Conference.”

Last season, the Coyotes played 20 exhibition games for their inaugural season, with 13 of those games coming against current PACWEST schools.

Coyotes home games will be played at two Okanagan schools this season.

Their primary home will be Immaculata High School in Kelowna, while they’ll also play some home games at Penticton High School to increase the team’s reach.
