The UBCO Heat men's and women's volleyball teams were both in action on Friday night, this time taking on the visiting Mount Royal Cougars.

The two teams couldn't handle the powerhouse Cougars as both would lose in straight sets.

The women played some very promising volleyball as all three sets were decided by only two points. The biggest highlight of their match would come in the third set after they gave up a 14-1 lead. The women would gather runs of five-consecutive points multiple times to tie the game at 23 before losing. The Heat hit 21% of their spikes and had 18 aces during the match.

The men, who were playing the number three ranked team in U Sports, also had some promising games. The team fell 25-27, 18-25, and 25-23 in their games. The men hit just 13.1% of their spikes and finished with just two service aces on the night.

The men and women are now both 0-7 on the season and will look to turn it around tonight against the Cougars at the UBCO gym. First serve goes at 7 p.m.
