"The best time of our lives." That's how setter Jenna Holland describes the KSS Senior Girls victory at the BC Championships on Saturday. Her teammate left side Thea Gremmen called it the culmination of "a perfect last season for my senior year."

Members of the team and Head Coach Kelly Hettinga paid us a visit at KelownaNow with the team still riding the high that comes with such a great victory.

"I really just loved the ending," said right side and setter Sarah Hall. "The whole team coming onto the court, just everyone laughing, smiling...some crying."  The team won eight straight games to win the tournament after entering as the fifth seed. "I felt like we had what I would call an outside shot going into the tournament," recalled Hettinga . But his optimism grew with each game. "Especially after the first day at the provincials when we went 3-0 in our pool."

The team came to the tournament as the top Okanagan seed.  The Owls have had won that distinction for 13 straight years, but were still seen as underdogs.

The climax of the tournament saw, the streaking Owls matched up with the number one seed in the tournament, the Bellmont Bulldogs of Victoria. Despite trailing early in the first set, Kelowna surged to win the championship game in three straight sets.
