Okanagan swim clubs invade Chilliwack for AA Provincials

Over the weekend, 34 swimmers from Kelowna and West Kelowna swim clubs travelled to Chilliwack for the AA Provincials.

In total, the 34 swimmers swam to 157 best times and a handful of medals.

Georgia Pengilly swam to a silver in both the 200m freestyle and 200m backstroke and added a bronze in the 200m individual medley (IM).

Ava Toyata picked up a gold medal in the 200m freestyle and posted new personal bests in every race except one.

Ella Robertson posted her personal best time en route to a gold medal in the 400m IM and the boys 12 and under relay team of Noah Semashkewich, Keaton Russel, Kaden Madge and Ethan Gray won gold in the 400m IM as well.

Meanwhile, Brandon Mullin swam to a bronze medal on his own in the 400m IM.

The girls 14 and under 400m IM relay team of Megan Allan, Kaitie Mcconechy, Ella Rolleston and Brooklyn Semashkewich, as well as the girls open relay team of Georgia Pengilly, Christina Wright, Makenna Haight and Megan Elkin both took home bronze medals.

Andrea Kraetzer had a weekend to remember, swimming to best times in every race she competed in, qualifying for the AAA provincials and earning a bronze in the 50m freestyle.

Cameron McInnes also swam to personal bests in every race he competed in while earning a birth in the AAA Provincials.

A number of other swimmers posted personal bests at the meet including Clara Dickieson, Kaleigh Reese, Athina Merckx, Dray Rolleston, Megan Allan, Oliver Dickieson, Sara Gray, Sarah Courtenay, Keaton Russell, RJ Stone, Olivia Courtenay, Taylor Desrosier, Nathaniel Hees, Madison Wudrich, Brooklyn Semashkewich, Alexandra Strobel, Madison Comeau, Quin Toyata, Breanna James, Evan Kahnke and Madison Seeley.

The next meet for the Okanagan-based swim clubs is the AAA Provincials in Victoria from March 2nd to 5th.
