If you use Instagram Stories, this has likely happened to you.

You’re browsing through your friends story when all of a sudden you see your pal from the United States post a video that is supposed to have music playing over it.

Unfortunately, living in Canada, all you saw was a little graphic that said, “Instagram music isn’t available in your region.”

Well, that’s all changed, because as of today, the feature is now available for Canadians to use in both their Instagram and Facebook stories!

To take advantage of this new (to us) feature, all you have to do is tap the sticker icon and add the music sticker the same way you’d add a location, temperature, time or mention sticker.

Once you do that, you’ll have a long list of music to choose from, including chart-topping artists, Canadian icons and even Indigenous artists.

"We are working to bring voice to Indigenous experiences, to empower our youth, and to ensure greater representation in music here on Turtle Island (Canada) and around the world,” said Yung Trybez and Young D from the Snotty Nose Rez Kids.

“We're excited to see Facebook and Instagram launch these new tools and provide a platform for us to better reach and connect with our fans.”

Once you pick a song, you’ll be able to scroll through the entire tune and pick a section that you want to be included in your story.

You even have the option for the lyrics to pop up on the screen for certain songs.
