Snapchat is always adding new gimmicks and features, but their latest may have taken it a little far.

Snap Map, which went live on Thursday morning, will show users exactly where their friends are, at least the ones that choose to enable the feature.

If none of your friends are around or using Snap Map, it will show you public figures and locations that might pique your interest.

To activate Snap Map, you need to update your phone with the latest version of Snapchat.

After that, just open the app and pinch the camera screen to open up the map.

It will allow you to choose whether you want your location to be public or ghost mode, which hides you from everyone except yourself.

“If your friends are sharing their location with you, their Actionmoji will appear on the map,” said a statement from Snapchat. “Actionmojis only update when you open Snapchat.”

So your friends will only be able to see the location of the last place you used Snapchat, unless you’re using the app at that particular time in which case it acts as a personal tracking device of sorts.

What do you think about this new Snapchat feature, is it too far or a great addition?
