15 cm of Snow Expected on Area Highways (Video)

If you are planning to get away this long weekend be prepared to face winter conditions on the higher elevations.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt. Snow is expected to fall Thursday night and into Friday as a cold front moves across the B.C. Interior.

Rain is expected to turn into snow and at the Coquihalla Summit with more than 15 centimetres expected. The Kootenay Pass is also expected to receive more than 15 centimetres and 10 on the Allison Pass.

A special weather statement is also in place for Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton and Highway 3 from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.
