UPDATE: Highway 1 from Revelstoke to Golden has been reopened.

Good news for Okanagan travellers Thursday morning, all major highways have underwent avalanche control and roads have been cleared for travel. However, there are two transportation routes that are currently shut down.

— Drive BC (@DriveBC) January 8, 2015According to DriveBC, a vehicle recovery incident located 43 to 52 kilometres east of Revelstoke has shut down the highway. Delays are expected early this morning, as the highway is scheduled to open up around 10:00 a.m.

In addition, the McLure Ferry is out of service in both directions due to cold temperatures and river conditions. The Ferry will be out of service until further notice or until conditions improve.

Highway 5 northbound, seven kilometres south of exit 336 Junction to Highway 97 D to Logan Lake was closed Wednesday afternoon, however; the highway has since been cleared and is now open for travel.
It's important to take your time while driving this morning. Kelowna streets are plowed however, the cold, damp weather is creating slippery conditions on the roads.
According to Environment Canada, the weather expected for Kelowna this morning is mostly cloudy with fog patches developing into the evening. The low is minus one degree Celsius with a potential high of two degrees Celsius. Thursday afternoon might see north bound winds, gusting at 20 kilometres an hour.
